beginning of the end for what is easily the largest homeless encampment in the city of san jose. kron4 shows you where and why hundreds of illegal campers were getting the boot. >> the exact date has not been announced, but the latest word from san jose city hall is that sometime during the first week of march, the homeless people you see camped out here near the airport, directly beneath the flight path, will be asked to leave. they will be evicted and camp side here will be cleaned up. that means the 100 or so homeless people in some 70 tents and other makeshift shelters here will have to go. the coming action spurred by pressure from neighbors fed up with rising crime, trash, and unsanitary conditions fueled by fears the unprecedented grove of the camp may be the result of homeless people moving here from outside the region. >> cleanups are just part of an overall strategy to address a much larger problem, which is the homelessness that our community is facing. we'll move people, but we are hoping we can use that as a way to positively reenforce the access and services. >> sp

. who suisun city yesterday. and found dead in fairfield this morning. a passerby discovered the girl's naked body in allan witt park at about 6-45 this morning. right now. her death is being investigated as a homicide. kron-4's charles clifford has been in fairfield all day. he joins us live tonight with the very latest. the girl, who's described as a teenager, was reported missing by a guardian thursday afternoon when she didn't come home from school. the suisun city police department spent thursday eveing and friday morning searching for her. around 6:45 friday morning, an officer with the fairfield police department discovered her body lying naked in a parking lot here at allan witt park. fairfield police blocked off a large section of the park and spent most of the day searching the area. they also contacted suisun city police who were able to identify girl as their as of friday evening the girls name and exact age had not been released, pending notification of next of kin. the fairfield police department is now leading are treating this as homicide case. kicked team coverage conti

stick. the city has announced plans to demolish the stadium after the team moves south to its new home in santa clara. kron 4's charles clifford has more >> reporter: candlestick parks sits about 5 and a half miles south of downtown san francisco. the stadium was built in the late fifties as a home for the san francisco giants, the 49ers started using it in 1971. the giants moved out in 2000 and the next nfl season will be candlesticks last. for more than fifty years candlestick park has been home to sports, concerts, and more than a few memorable moments, among the highlights was the 1989 loma prieta earthquake, which shook the stadium on live television during the world series. there was also this pass from joe montana to dwight clark, which was immortalized as the catch that sent the 49ers to superbowl 16. candlestick park is currently run by the san francisco recreation and parks department, but after the 49ers play there last game here next season, developer lennar urban will take over. lennar is the same company that is redeveloping the nearby hunters point shipyard. under a

foot the bill to pay for road repairs in san jose. this is an example of the more 375 miles of city streets that are now rated to be in 'poor' condition. repairs could cost a hundred million dollars a year, more than five times the current budget. next month the city council will consider options that include raising sales taxes or a bond measure that could cost the average homeowner 100-dollars a year. here's some reaction from those who travel those bumpy roads. >> if it is $100 per year? that's how much are the taxes already going to our taxes what should guide be giving more of money if their release was to be taking care of this? >> if we are traveling at high speeds on the highway it could be significant damage. however, if i am on a fixed income, $100 is a significant. >> the roads are bad and on the other hand people are getting taxed. there is probably a fair amount of resistance. would you support this? >> " i would, yes" >> san jose has more than 300-million dollars in backlog repairs alone. most of them are the result of on-going budget cuts. >> jacqueline: these conditi

tidy. thanks to a new program that will pay homeless people. to help clean up the city. kron 4's scott rates shows us how the program will work. >> reporter: the city manager telling me this program will provide food, clothing and cash to the homeless here on these streets in exchange for helping keep the city looking sharp! last night the city approving funding to bring in the non-profit organization downtown streets team. the $272,000 one year program will create a 12 person team made up of homeless individuals here in san rafael. the team members will work about 20 hours a week cleaning side-walks and streets. in return they will receive $100 a week for food and housing the downtown streets team already has successful programs in palo alto and san jose, the san rafael city manager says the homeless problem here has gotten so bad something had to be done >> we will have always had downtown facilities to help the homeless. lately, however there is been a larger number. our citizens have been concerned that we need to do more. and the cities portion of that $272,000 price tag wil
